**** Sadly, MONO closed again. ****
Other than the name suggests MONO is not a single brand store. And it is not just another concept store either. Instead you find a very fine selection of sustainable mens and womens wear, accessories and jewelry. The brands as well as the store design look very Berlin. Which comes at no surprise. Daniel Febrer Hoff ran his own fashion store at famous Kastanienallee, aka Casting Alley. Last year he decided to return to his hometown Palma for his new project MONO concept store.
Daniel left Berlin for good after spending half of his life in the German capital. But he brought many ideas and some brands to his new shop in Palma. Like the minimalist rucksacks from ucon acrobatics, stylish companions for any occasion. Or Mio Animo, a young label that produces feminine, yet slightly edgy womenswear. At MONO concept store you also find the most popular Nudie jeans as well as sneakers from Veja, the cult shoes from France. My own long-time favorite for eco wear is Thinking MU, one of the green pioneers from Barcelona. Known for its fancy yet wearable styles with a high potential of becoming loved items.
MONO offers a smart choice of young European designers that care for sustainability. And Daniel is always on the lookout for new brands to introduce in his portfolio. He also loves to print his own line of T-shirts. Occasionally you can watch him at the printing machine in the store. A maritime motif on a blue shirt says “My anchor belongs to Palma”. You know that feeling, I am sure. The more you travel, the more you need a place to anchor. For me those places are Palma and Berlin – and MONO presents the best of both worlds when it comes to sustainable fashion.
