**** Estilo Sant Feliu recently moved just around the corner to Costa de Santa Creu, 3 ****
I have always loved the traditional Mallorcan pattern you see on curtains or pillowcases, occasionally, but it was only recently that I learned its name: Llengos, literally tongues. Some people may still call Llengos old-fashioned where in fact they are rather retro today, getting more and more popular again. Look at the authentic decoration in Patrón Lunares or the seat covers at the restaurant of Hotel Cort, both current examples of a modern Mallorcan style. There are only a few small manufactures left on the island where Llengos are woven – in Santa Maria and Marratxi.
If you want to know where to get this fabric try Estilo Sant Feliu. Jorge Sosa Balle had furnishes hotels and restaurants before he opened his own small store on that noble street with the same name. You’ll find a variety of pillows in there, napkins and table mats all bearing different Llengos patterns in beautiful bright colors – blue and red, orange, green and brown. The fabric is also available by the meter, if you are looking for an individual style or size. I took the chance and had two cushions custom-made in a color that reminds me of the red-brown earth of the island and that goes perfectly well with my old leather sofa.
You will also find some really nice colorful pottery in Jorge’s shop: I definitely fell for the large bowls with my favorite pattern. And there are many more small things to treat yourself – or to look for a present from the island that doesn’t look like a souvenir.
