It’s often the small things that make a big difference. Like the fine exhibition of screen prints that was inaugurated tonight at Rialto Living. Sixty-two renowned Mallorcan artists each contributed a piece that is dedicated to the work of Projecte Home Balears. The Palma-based organisation helps drug addicts and their families to get back on their feet and live a life of their own.
Art per a la vida, art for life, is the motto of the unique selection displayed in the year of Projecte Home Balear’s 30th anniversary. And in a very literal sense: You can buy each print for as little as 30 Euro. That’s a small amount for each piece of great art but all together a big support for Projecte Home Balears. And the people they care for in the first place.
The atmosphere at the inauguration night was accordingly warm, the bright room filled with laughter. Barbara Bergman, owner of Rialto Living, greeted her guests, among them several of the artists, from Joan Bennàssar to Luis Maraver. To name just the two whose prints I bought spontaneously. But I think I have to get back tomorrow for a Biel Bover.
