The opening of an exhibition at night is a wonderful occasion to get together, meet interesting people and celebrate the artist and his work in a casual atmosphere. Even more compelling is the famous daytime vernissage at the beginning of spring, when Palma’s contemporary art galleries welcome art lovers with an exciting program. The Art Palma Brunch is one great get-together. Walk through the historic city center, talk to the artists, and watch one of the live performances.
Art Palma Brunch is always fascinating. Re-discover established artists like Markus Lüpertz at well known Gallery Kewenig on Carrer San Feliu, or pop into newly opened gallery of Pep Llabres in Sant Jaume displaying works of Chillida and Miró. Galeria Fran Reus, L 21 or Galeria Xavier Fiol attract a curious younger audience, so do famous museums for contemporary art like Casal Solleric and Es Baluard.
Just drift through the crowds of people, contemplate a piece of art, take a snack and una copa di cava, or have a break for a coffee. Meet old friends or make new ones. And maybe you fall in love with a picture or a sculpture, like I did at Pelaires Centre Cultural Contemporani with a picture of the Mallorcan artist Guillem Nadal.
