**** Sadly, Bagel had to close in the wake of the pandemic. ****
For quite some time, Bagels have become very popular all over the world. The sad thing is, however, that most of the so-called bagels only assemble the shape but don’t even get close to the texture of a real one. A bagel is much more than a round bread roll with a hole. So I was curious when Bagel opened its doors in Palma. Would they offer the real thing?
Andrew and Stephan came from Cape Town to Palma and they claim to run the sole Bagel bakery on the island. Indeed they take only natural, even vegan ingredients, and – most important – prepare it the traditional way by boiling the dough.
A bagel always reminds me of New York and when there, it’s one of the first things I go for. So when at Bagel’s, I simply had to try the New York style version (salmon, capers and cream cheese on a toasted sesame bagel), along with a cappuccino. Let me tell you: these guys know how to prepare a decent bagel. Plus, they do illy coffee, which is one of my favorite brands. A perfect match but then there’s a lot more to discover on their menu. Or, simply create your own!
