The first bite is with the eye. That’s true for the food on your plate. But it’s equally true for the overall atmosphere of a meal. Some restaurants on Mallorca offer spectacular views of the Mediterranean. And dining with a vista like this, you also take in the sea and the landscape. Let me share my favorite restaurants with a view on Mallorca. Going clockwise from the Tramuntana mountains to the city of Palma.
You can spot the emblematic rock formation in the sea when you hike around Valldemossa and Deià. Sa Foradada looks like a giant whale emerging at the foot of the Tramuntana. Sa Foradada is also the name of the restaurant perched on the rocks above a tiny bay. A popular place to enjoy a cool drink, grilled fish or paella overlooking the coastline and the sea.
If I had to scout a location for a romantic dinner under the stars, including sunset and ocean view, Béns d’Avall would surely be among the first. The Michelin-starred restaurant’s magnificent terrace overlooking the Tramuntana’s rocky cliffs and the countless shades of Mediterranean blue is simply overwhelming.
Authentic Mallorcan cuisine in one of the most picturesque villages on the island. Run by the Busquet family for over 25 years, Es Turó restaurant is popular with locals and visitors alike. If you’re lucky, you get a table on the terrace surrounded by flowers. And a breathtaking view of the mountains.
Miceli stands for traditional dishes with a contemporary twist. The menu changes every day depending on what chef Marga Coll had bought fresh on the market in Inca early in the morning. The wonderful restaurant is located in the heart of Selva at the foot of the Tramuntana, overlooking the wide plains of the island.
When the sun sets at the horizon Son Terrassa comes to life. The family-run restaurant near Cas Concos clearly lives up to its name. Its beautiful terrace is the perfect location for a sunset dinner of traditional Mallorcan cuisine. While you enjoy each course the sun slowly sinks behind the hills of the Plà i Llevant.
S’Arenal de Portocolom is actually a chiringuito. At first glance, the scenery looks like a picnic in the sand. Indeed, the atmosphere is relaxed, drinks are fab and the tiny kitchen offers great bar food and fresh fish. Dining with the feet in the sand and a view of the entire bay.
The Restaurante Mirador Sa Cabrera in Cala Pi sits right at the edge of the cliff. Expect fresh and seasonal mediterranean cuisine facing the sea and the small island of Sa Cabrera. Prepared by German chef Jörg Klausmann who is a huge fan of the SC Freiburg football team.
The panoramic view from Puig de Randa is one of the most spectacular on Mallorca. Hikers and cyclists alike love to climb the 543 meters to the top. The vista is best enjoyed on the terrace of the Santuari de Cura restaurant. The kitchen focuses on typical Mallorcan dishes like Frito mallorquin or suckling pig.
I’ve heard of people who came to Lila Portals for a drink, stayed for dinner and only left when the bar closed. Located high above the beach with stunning views of the bay of Portals Nous, yet it’s just steps from the sea.
Restaurant Cuit is located on the eighth floor of Hotel Nakar in Palma. With a beautiful view over the old town, cathedral and the bay of Palma. Start with a drink on the rooftop terrace. The kitchen is just as fabulous. Chef Miquel Calent likes to go with the season. His menus are inspired by the island’s culinary tradition.
These are just my personal Top 10 restaurants with a view on Mallorca. Find more fabulous places for outdoor dining on the island right here.
