Once upon a time, there was a rather outdated pavilion at Palma’s beach named Café Gaby. Despite its gorgeous location it was mostly deserted and eventually closed down. Actually, I had been sitting there a few times just because it was such a great place: Facing the sun over the ocean all day, you could watch the ships on their way to and from the port, the skyline of Palma with the cathedral right in front of you and the Tramuntana mountains behind.
Now the ramshackle building has been replaced by a stylish beach bar. If you want to hide from the sun or the wind (which can be really chilly here at the waterfront) take a place inside. Thanks to the all glass front you can still look out on the seemingly endless ocean. Or you idly watch the bartender preparing the drinks and the waiters wander around in their sleek anima dress.
From spring to fall the terrace is the place to be. You can choose between regular tables, deck chairs and lounge chairs. The kitchen serves fusion snacks and salads and when the sun settles down music and drinks run the show – together with a mix of guests from all over the world.
