Bea Drack called her cozy basement restaurant a tapas bar. Indeed she offers a creative mediterranean mixture of small meals. If you want to try different dishes, all of them really delicious, just go for a half portion. Two things you should not miss: the Toast Mallorca, with sobrassada, queso di cabra and a morsel of carne de membrillo (quince jelly), and one of the two carpaccios: The carpaccio de ternera comes with all natural beef and almonds, fantastic. But the carpaccio de berenjena (aubergine) is extraordinary, too, and alway a great alternative for the vegetarian.
The meals are prepared in a small open kitchen. Obviously, Bea had to spare some space for a very nice selection of wine, both from the island and abroad. You can always taste some of them by the glass before you go for a bottle. And at the end buy a bottle to take home. My personal favorite is the a punt, a fresh Chardonnay from the Mallorcan Pla i Llevant. If you prefer red wine with your food, treat yourself with bottle of Riserva Privada from Macia Batle. It also makes a wonderful gift to bring a friend at home, since the bottle carries the geographic coordinates of the vineyard on its simple but stylish label.
13 % is one of the rare places where you meet regulars from la ciutat, residents on the islands and frequent guests. Bea opened the tapas bar a few years ago and while she still works the day shift, there have been some new faces in the night crew. But over all the years she managed to keep the personal touch and the balance of the unmistakable 13 % style and occasional changes of the menu.
