Leathercraft has a long tradition on Mallorca, and particularly shoemaking is prominent until today. Every year in June, there is a Fira de Sa Sabata (shoe fair) in Lloseta, a small town close to Inca – the capital of the island’s shoe industry. A few well-known brands come from here, but not many people know about their origin.
So if you walk along the impressive stores of Jaime III, at first sight you might miss the typical Mallorcan style you find in the smaller side streets. At a closer look, however, you will be able to distinguish and discover shops that are special in their own way – such as Lottusse for instance.
For years, I did not have many shoes but I always bought decent quality. And thats exactly what you get at Lottusse’s. Along with great quality and a simple, almost conservative style, so you can wear your new pair of shoes for many years to come. Estefania and her colleagues are proud of the traditional way of manufacturing, known as the Goodyear method, which they will gladly explain in detail.
Ask for the Brogues you can have custom-made in your favorite coloring. They take about 2-3 weeks to manufacture, but they will then be your very unique pair of shoes. No need to add, that it’s not only the look but also the fit that is outstanding.
Lottusse started out with shoe-making more than 130 years ago, it is still a family-owned enterprise. Just recently they added leather accessories like bags and weekenders, belts, wallets, or covers for your smart phone and tablet to their portfolio, all made from the same beautiful leather. Quality has its price, and that’s true for Lottusse, too, but I always liked the idea of possessing one decent rather than two shiny, but cheap things. This is hard with shoes, I admit, but in this case it works for me.
