Behind the big windows of a magnificent city palace an enchanted dance unfolds and captivates you instantly. Dresses are hanging on delicate metal rails like the costumes of a ballet. The Cortana store in Palma radiates lightness and sublime beauty. A genuine showroom that resembles an art gallery rather than a fashion store.
The precious apparel is solely made from natural materials: silk, cotton, linen and wool, often organic fibers. A fine selection of handcrafted accessories such as shoes and handbags completes the look.
Pure and Precious
The dresses are precious, costly yes, but timeless as they are you can wear them maybe not every day but surely forever. Some Cortana dresses are made for one day only, though. Rosa Esteva had designed the first one for herself before she made wedding gowns a regular part of her fashion line.
Rosa was born on Mallorca, she studied art history and fashion design in Barcelona before she founded Cortana and opened her first store in Palma in 2001. Openings in Barcelona and Madrid followed.
Today, her fashion graces red carpets of royal palaces, film festivals and opening nights all over the world. The dresses emphasize the glamour of the bearer and make her shine all the more. Because, as Yves Saint Laurent put it, „what is important in a dress is the woman who wears it”.
Mediterranean Design
Recently Cortana added a line of home accessories. Also designed by Rosa Esteva in unmistakable Cortana style. Plain ceramic cups and plates, bowls and jars, glazed in various natural shades. And a collection of unique candles, inspired by the Talayotic monuments on the island.
While the fabrics come from France and Italy, the collections are produced in small ateliers near Barcelona. Ceramics and candles though are made by artisans on Mallorca. All of them expression of the presence, yet deeply rooted and inspired by Mediterranean culture and lifestyle.
