Imagine Mexican flavors combined with Mediterranean ingredients. Served in the lively neighborhood of the market hall. Mestís is located in one of the small houses where the fishermen of Palma used to live. Today, the bright interior reminds of an eatery in Baja California. BajaMed in Santa Catalina.
The restaurant also got a few tables on the narrow sidewalk. Sitting in the semishade of light trees, you can watch the relaxed goings-on in the street while indulging in the delicious food.
The ceviche de pescado blanco is a classic on the Mestís menu. Super authentic it instantly brought back memories of travels through Latin America. And the tostadita with tuna tartar was just the perfect combination of crispy flatbread and tender fish.
Mestís also serves breakfast, from pancakes to tortilla to exotic smoothies and bowls, often with a vegetarian or vegan option. Lunch, of course, and on weekends there is a special dinner menu and a nice choice of Latin drinks.
With the Santa Catalina Market just around the corner, the kitchen at Mestís places great emphasis on fresh produce from the island. Even the coffee represents the idea of fusion, the beans are roasted on Mallorca. You can taste it.
