From this weekend on, the Fira del Llibre in Palma attracts book lovers in a most beautiful setting. The traditional book fair has returned to the city’s noble boulevard El Born. And for ten days in a row, the city’s most engaged booksellers leave their shops and virtually go onto the street to meet their customers.
Join the visitors who stroll from stall to stall while the sunlight filters through the leafs of the plantans. Readers of all ages and those to be look for the newest releases. Or happily rediscover a forgotten modern classic.
Som de llibre reads the slogan of the 41st Fira del Llibre. However, there is more than just books. The fair program lists more than 70 exciting activities.
Of course there are dozens of book presentations and readings, storytelling and workshops for children. But also concerts and theater. Don’t miss the opportunity to talk to authors, poets and musicians, or meet with editors and publishers.
Reading can be a quite solitary affair, where you become completely absorbed in a world of your own. But events like the Fira del Llibre show the power of books to connect people. And their indispensable contribution to cultural life.
Palma celebrates its vibrant book scene not only on days like Sant Jordi. Thanks to the many independent and dedicated bookstores, every day is a day of books. At least as long as we support these local booksellers by shopping with them.
