After a calm passage under a spotless blue sky, Los Reyes Magos reached the old port of Palma, tonight. And while the sun set glowing behind the horizon, the Three Holy Kings slowly made their way through the old town. The colorful parade was eagerly awaited by thousands of spectators young and old who lined the streets. The kids full of joy and hope that the Wise Men bring the Christmas presents that they had wished for.
The Majesties were accompanied by an impressive entourage of skaters and dancers, giants and drummers. Joyfully greeting the audience that cheered and applauded as the floats were passing by. A huge space craft was manned with an astronaut that reminded of David Bowie. In a pink car, Barbie sang along to live music while a giant two-headed dragon plunged into the crowd further on.
And this year there were finally caramel candies, again. The children tried to catch as many as they could pocket. In return they will leave small treats for the camels of the Holy Kings at the front doors. Hoping to find their Christmas gifts by tomorrow morning.
Each member of the family also gets a piece of Roscón de Reyes. The wreath of yeast garnished with candied fruit contains a special filling: a small figure and a bean. The lucky one who finds the figure in his piece gets the paper crown that comes with each Roscón. And will be king of the day. The one who finds the bean, though, has to pay for the cake.
