When you walk through the maze of narrow streets in Palma keep your eyes open for its many hidden gems. A proud patio, maybe, or a colorful blooming backyard behind a plain facade. Like the splendid garden of Temple Natura. The popular vegan restaurant in Sa Calatrava is a true urban oasis.
A shady retreat where you enjoy your meal among lush flowers under a canopy of leaves. The mingle-mangle of comfortable vintage furniture makes you feel like a guest at a private home rather than at a restaurant. Indeed, Alejandro Jaramillo’s family still lives upstairs. He takes care of Temple Natura, his brother runs the herbal store next door.
They love to share their place with guests from all over the world. And treat them to a choice of tasty vegan dishes. The kitchen is best described as Columbian interpretation of Mediterranean cuisine. From salads to chili to burgers, accompanied by a nice choice of cocktails and homemade lemonades.
My all-time favorite is Temple Natura’s lentil salad with spinach, orange wedges and sunflower seeds in a spicy curry vinaigrette. The homemade burgers are among the best in Palma. And I always try to keep some space for one of the vegan deserts, or at least share one with friends.
