Mallorca got plenty of fruit and vegetables in great quality. Yet there are only few restaurants and cafés for vegetarians. Sure, meanwhile every good restaurant offers at least a couple of vegetarian options, if not even a complete veggie menu. But some places solely dedicated to vegetarian and – more often than not – vegan food are really fantastic. Whether you are looking for a bakery, a café or a restaurant, here are my personal Top 6 veggie places in Palma, the best of vegetarian and vegan eateries in town.
Ca n‘Ela is the new go-to place for excellent vegan food with a twist in the bustling Lonja neighborhood. The lunch menu is great, dinner simply extraordinary. And the atmosphere of the carefully decorated place makes you feel comfy right from the start. Chef Ella and her daughter Andrea opened the cozy restaurant after many years of experience at Bon Lloc.
The other recent addition to Palma‘s veggie scene is La Mujer De Verde. Also going back to Bon Lloc. After Juanjo Ramírez had to close his restaurant due to the pandemic his daughter Paula inspired him to a new endeavor. Located at beautiful Plaça de la Porta de Santa Catalina LMDV became popular among locals and visitors in no time. Veggie at it‘s best.
Plaer Natural opened 13 years ago on picturesque Plaça Quartera with a daily changing vegetarian lunch menu. Over time they also turned fully eco and included vegan and gluten free options. It’s the delicious food, the creative cooking and the personal touch of Monica and Ignasi that make Plaer Natural such a special place.
Temple Natura is a true urban oasis. Hidden behind a plain facade lies a lush garden with charming vintage furniture where you enjoy your meal in the shade of the trees. The kitchen, local cuisine with a latin touch, prepares a nice choice of most tasty dishes, from salads to burgers.
One of my favorite coffee places is Café Riutort. But it‘s not only the roasts that are outstanding, Albert and Joanaina also offer vegetarian breakfast and lunch. The menu is small but you cannot go wrong with a salad or their popular formula, a combination of wonderful dishes served on one plate.
Mama Carmen’s Kitchen and its younger sister Coffee & Bakery are located in Santa Catalina. And both super popular for their specialty coffee and the colorful vegan bowls, toasts and granolas. Not to forget their lovely cakes and rolls, homemade from the Hippie Baker.
For our daily supply at home there are numerous possibilities in the city, from the small neighborhood colmado to the large mercats. A fab place is the eco market on Plaça dels Patins. On Tuesday and Saturday mornings local farmers sell strictly certified produce right from earth to table.
