Cala Marmols is the picture postcard bay everybody dreams about. The flip side is that you are rarely alone on a paradise beach. But Cala Marmols can only be reached by foot and it takes a little while to get there. Out of season you may be lucky to have the bay all to yourself. The scenic route along the sea leads us all the way from the lighthouse at Cap de Ses Salines to the precious marble bay.
Actually, it’s an easy walk. But the water looks such a deep mesmerizing blue here that you have to remind yourself to watch the path every now and then. In the glistening sea beckons Isla de Cabrera, the goat island that you can visit from Colònia Sant Jordi by boat. But I am already flashed by the Mediterranean turquoise along the rocky coast.
The wind is fresh today but not chilly. Bizarrely formed trees and bushes tell that it often blows strongly over the macchia. The scents of the shrubs and the smell of the sea blending into a unique longing perfume. Finally the cliff opens up, giving view of the white sandy beach of Cala Marmols. And indeed, we are the only visitors, today. What a treat.
