Vintage road bikes and great coffee, Plumo is the new go-to place for cycling enthusiasts in the heart of Palma. Whether you want to meet like-minded people, rent a road bike or get your own bike tuned up. Theo and Nilton share a passion for bike races. At the same time they are convinced that cycling is for everyone. With Plumo they want to create an offer that not only aims at tourists.
Theo is the bike geek and responsible for the workshop, Nilton the barista. And with Mistral coffee and pastries from Thomas’ Bakeshop they stay true to their quality standards in the café, too. All race bikes at Plumo are from pro teams, and set up as in famous races like the Tour de France. The names of the riders alone make the hearts of cycling fans beat faster. If you like, you can rent one of these bikes for a tour.
The combination of café, rental and workshop makes Plumo a great meeting place for neighbors and guests of Sa Gerreria and Calatrava. And Plaça Quadrado is the ideal spot for an outdoor coffee. To the two founders it’s important that cycling is affordable. In the future, they want to offer the opportunity to buy used bicycles.
Proudly, Theo showed me his own race bike, which is top-notch even after ten years. No surprise really with the care. Of course, we also talked about our favorite tours on Mallorca. Theo’s is still the one of his first ride ever on the island. From Palma via Andratx and Estellencs to Banyalbufar, and via Esporles back to Palma. I’m excited about the guided tours that Plumo plans to host on Saturday mornings, soon.
