A dream has come true. For those who love great coffee and brunch. And particularly for Miquel and Toni who launched La Molienda six years ago. Serving specialty coffee but doing their own roasts was part of the plan right from the start. It took a little longer than expected but the result was worth the wait. They not only added a roastery but also built a luminous café around it. Light filters in through the spacious windows and soon everybody finds a favorite place. Watching street life or keeping an eye on the roaster.
If you are familiar with the history of La Molienda you will be pleased to find some of their classics on the vegetarian menu. Complemented by changing lunch specials like mushroom risotto, pumpkin soup or beetroot carpaccio. All made from certified organic ingredients. And of course there is a nice choice of homemade sweets that go perfectly with the coffee. The first batch of their own roast is already finished since it has also been served in La Molienda on C/ Bisbe Campins. I really like its mild, slightly nutty flavor and I’m curious to try their other coffees.
The design of La Molienda’s new place is stunning. The lavish use of space, high ceilings and light colors add up to a unique atmosphere. Starting with a tiny coffee shop, then moving to the cozy café, Toni and Miquel now created a new go-to place. And casually prove that they are still the pioneers who once started a new era for coffee aficionados on Mallorca. Meanwhile, there are several superb specialty coffee places in Palma. But while they may compete for the quality of their coffee and for Latte Art they all share the same passion. No surprise that La Finca and Rosevelvet Bakery were among the first to congratulate on the opening day this week.
