**** Sadly, Sebastian and Juan Pablo just closed their popular coffee joint for good. But I’m sure they have plans for the future. Stay tuned! (Dec 17, 23) ****
I love New York style breakfast places. Neighborhood cafés where you start the day with a cappuccino and a smoothie. That’s why I instantly fell in love with La Finca, the new coffee shop next to Palma’s avenidas. It’s got that same relaxed atmosphere, healthy snacks and great coffee made by a charming barista.
If you leave home early without breakfast, La Finca is the perfect place for la merienda. The (second) breakfast is served until 12.30 h. For a quick and light lunch I fancy the beet root salad with grilled chicken and feta cheese, or the vegetarian fajitas who come with pico de gallo. There’s also a choice of tasty tostadas, llonguets and sandwiches, all freshly prepared. Not to forget the homemade cakes and cookies. The small pastries with pistachio and Belgian chocolate for example go perfectly well with a coffee or cappuccino.
Sebastian and Joan Pablo source their specialty coffees from select European roasters like Mistral in Palma, Ineffable in Sevilla or Fjord in Berlin. Roasters who choose the best beans cultivated on fincas in Ethiopia, El Salvador or Guatemala. The quality of the ingredients, the experience and the enthusiasm of the two friends make all the difference.
Born in Chile and Argentina, Sebastian and Joan Pablo consider themselves hijos del mundo, children of the world. They had been travelling before they came to Madrid and eventually to Mallorca. After some time working in a café in Santa Catalina they recently opened La Finca. Their own coffee shop in a hood that wasn’t used to specialty roasts at first. Meanwhile neighbors are starting to appreciate the new place while coffee aficionados find their way to La Finca anyway.
