The sky above me is darkening from the purest Yves-Klein-bleu to a deep midnight blue. In the big open rotunda of Castell de Bellver I’m all ears, listening to a most exciting interpretation of a Mozart serenata. Even if classical music is not your thing I’m sure you would have been just as thrilled as I was. Set amidst the Castell’s spectacular murallas you simply cannot resist its magic.
Italian violist Lorenza Borrani was captivating the audience with her passionate play and modern approach of the great classics. I’m sure Wolfgang Amadeus would have loved her unconventional, witty play. And the ability to transfer her enthusiasm to the whole orchestra and, of course, the audience. Even a couple of night-active birds were joining in with a funny call.
Festival Bellver is one of the numerous open air events in the Mallorcan summer. Like Cine a la fresca at Plaça Llorenç Bisbal or in Parc de la Mar, Tramuntana Rocks in Esporles and other festivals the performance of the Balearic Symphony Orchestra attracts a different kind of audience. And the setting adds to the overall summery feeling of freedom and easy living.
