We all love Christmas time with its golden streets lights. Yet it’s those shortest days of the year that we tend to dress in dark hues, only. So I often start looking for something bright to wear. Like the fancy colorful bangles from Brizna, the narrow store and workspace near Santa Eulalia.
The small pieces of jewelry are all handmade by Nieves. The Mallorcan artisan has run Brizna for more than two decades, now, and you can often watch her working her designs. The light synthetic material she uses for bangles, rings and studs accounts for their intensive colors. But there are also small pretty things made of silver, leather and wood.
One of Brizna’s most charming objects is its logo, the unicorn. It also comes as a pendant made of sterling silver. And since the unicorn is a synonym for successful start-ups I like to think of it as a sibling to Palma’s heraldic animal and my own logo, the bat. I still wonder where I might get a silver murcielago pin.
